Re: What - no match thread for the EJ Whitten?

Pressure. In an AFL game you are kicking with 20,000 fans or more expecting and yelling for you to kick it, the other 20,000 jeering, in a game that means something. Ej Whitten you are kicking in a fun fest with the crowd half watching and not expecting you to kick it. No point comparing the two. H...

Re: What - no match thread for the EJ Whitten?

Surely the comparing of kicking for goal in the EJ Whitten game to an AFL game is not serious? Poles apart. What do you mean? It's kicking the same ball the same distance through the same goals? Anything other than that is bad technique or mental weakness, both which shouldn't be an excuse for play...

Re: The current St Kilda ITK leaks on Big Fish

No leaks is the sign of a well run club. I am confident all avenues are being explored to get the players we need. Very hard to land a big fish, especially in competition with the big clubs, but the circus has not started yet. In any event, most of our improvement next year is going to come from the...

Well as I said, I haven't really been a 'supporter' as such for about a decade. I'm more of an observer...

Re: Saints look to lock in Paddy

The guy who, with others, was involved in drafting him, has not been at the club for years, so what would HE really know? The guy you are referring to actually left before Paddy was drafted. The guys that made to the decision to draft Paddy over Petracca are all still at the club. He left just befo...

Re: Saints look to lock in Paddy

I really don't understand this type of decision. Unless contracts are essentially worthless and its a ruse to try and prop up Paddy's self confidence? He is not capable physically at AFL level. What part of 6 concussions in 21 games can't we see? Character and talent to spare but he lacks resilienc...

Re: Competitive Will and Onfield Leadership

Hodge gone next year, also possibly Gibson, who takes their place in organising setups? You could say the same for any team losing experienced leaders. Leaders will develop further once the oldies go. Roughead, Bruce, Gunston, Mitchell's been handy? I reckon their potentials are better than Newnes,...

Agree, he played fairly well, but a number of his intercept marks were due to poor entry by Port, and the conditions were part of that.

It was a messy game. I think the weather had something to do with it. Stats are only any good when you are comparing like with like.
I agree there are some problems, but that comes with a developing team.

Re: A well coached team

Thoroughly enjoyed the match. Great surge in the last quarter, bit of inexperience in the end cost us. We were under the pump and responded, even in Adelaide. Very good learning experience, I wonder whether Montagna or Roo would have blocked or told someone to block the back of the pack to stop Gray...

Re: Our ruckmen

Big Boy did not have much opposition - Naismith was injured & Sinclair not a great ruckman and had his great game (as a forward) last week.

But Big boy does well within his limitations. Would rather have a 23 old Longer at our stage though.

Swans had two late outs, which is disruptive, Kennedy got injured, Sinclair was never going to repeat his effort last week, Swans were due for a downer.

Nothing in it really.

Re: More Pleasure or More Pain?

Pleasure wins by a mile. Lots of downs, but even then we always seem to have one or two superstars to watch, from Baldock/Stewart through to Roo. The rises up the ladder are much more exiting because of the down years, and we keep coming back. I guess I have been lucky as I was there in '66, and was...

Outclassed, but I thought they battled it out well. Membrey has been sorely missed.

Sydney play the ground well, and are at the top of their game with pressure and efficiency, and Sinclair had a blinder.

I don't think any other team in the comp would have got within 3 goals tonight.

Might be a life sentence for the Dockers if his body is stuffed. I hope Ameet has plenty up his sleeve - as much as he might not have been everyone's first choice, the melt on these boards will be epic if we get to the end of trade period and all we've done is give up next years 2nd round pick for ...

Feel a bit sorry for Hick after tonight. He was clearly very nervous and lacking confidence. Didn't help him that the midfield didn't show up.
