I haven't seen a St Kilda side fitter than the present one. Full credit to Peter Mulkearns and David Misson, both of whom were lured to the club by one man. Ross Lyon. There were a number of players in that side last night - Steven King, Adam Schneider, Shaun Dempster, David Armitage, Robert Eddy an...

Everyone can't be wrong. Yes, "they" can and often are. I have never spoken to a football fan who wouldn't have Riewoldt in their top 15-20 .... Maybe everyone is wrong and he is that over-rated. Personally I don't think so, and clearly our coaching staff didn't think so last year when th...

Interesting perspective, and when you express it like that I'm inclined to agree with a fair bit of what you're saying. However, there is one thing you have wrong IMO. How many of our forwards can we say will be involved in 3-4 goals every week, no matter what? Riewoldt had over 20 goals assists las...

Yes I can because it is clearly better to watch than 5 years ago. Please show me a comment where you thought that in 2004 and 2005. You will not have one because it is us that are not playing good footy not other sides. Certainly St Kilda's relative success or failure impacts on my thoughts of the ...

Re: How fit do we really have to be?

We looked tired last night. I'd hate to think what we'll look like in August. Not directly related, but no team since 2005 has won a match after playing 3 games in a row at Telstra Dome (I'm fairly sure that is correct). We are playing our fourth game in a row there this week. Will be interesting t...

Your friggin 18 and you talk about 5-10 years ago. Stop listening to your dad and think for yourself little d. I went to every St Kilda game in Melbourne between 1997 and 2005, and have probably averaged watching 2-3 games a week on TV since I was about 8 years old. Clearly I'm not qualified to com...

My point was exactly what I wrote: 25 weeks into his coaching career, can we already make a judgment on Ross Lyon? Or do we need to be more patient than that? He is coming off a high base not like other new coaches do. I know, and that's why it makes it difficult to know how long he needs to be giv...

Omly proves you watch the saints and have no idea what so ever. Clearly better footy these days but you are influenced by our play. You clearly have no idea. The game has lost its diversity in player type, the characters, the connection with supporters, lost passion from the players and coaches, lo...

Blake's direct opponent was one of the best players on the ground.

He did not play well.

Yep Armitage was suspended last week.

If Jones played well then I would expect him to come in for sure.

I can't dignify that with a response.

Can't believe it's only taken 25 weeks for a "sack Lyon" post to appear though.

How far does our patience need to extend? Mark Williams coached the most talented side in the AFL for 3 years and kept failing before he finally got them to a flag. Mark Thompson coached one of the most talented (and largely unchangd) lists in the AFL for 4 years before he got it right. And there we...

Yep. I think Adelaide reached that point last year - Neil Craig tried to make them fitter again in the summer of 06/07 and the whole side broke down with injury and looked tired. The interchange bench is the main problem. If you limited rotations, a gameplan where players run up and down for 2 hours...

Has now the scalps of Hall, Fevola and Welsh in three rounds.

Should be leading our B&F IMO.

Football has changed anyway - it was better to watch 5 years ago and better again 10 years ago.

Just in general there are more crap games that are over-umpired, too tactical and require running machines.

They should only play AFL when it's raining. The games are far better to watch.

Both can win the football, and that's what cost us the game last night. One problem was that Blake was tagging Cooney, which was fine in itself. However, Eade simply made sure Cooney started at centre bounces - and it meant we had King and Blake standing next to each other. Hardly the ideal combinat...

"Fundamentally football is about getting your hands on the ball". "You can't do anything if you don't have the ball". Two quotes from RL. Said we got smashed in the midfield and smashed in the clearances and hence didn't get any supply to our forwards. An area we are normally goo...

Geez, you'd think we just had our 10th straight loss

Yeah we got smashed for a half of football. It happens. Even to the good sides. We did it to Carlton in '95 and they didn't lose another game ... "Fundamentally football is about getting your hands on the ball." We got smashed in this area last night ... up to RL to figure out why and fix ...
