Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi

I think Collard would develop better by playing in the AFL. The standard the Sandy games.....well...you'd get the same benefit to your development playing local footy I think you're right I also think we messed with his head by naming him in Round 1 and then not giving him a proper opportunity in t...

Here is the tweet: https://wwos.nine.com.au/videos/afl/afl-news-2024-mattaes-phillipou-manager-ross-lyon-comments/clw3esmfa00080hkcnfc43lkj I completely agree with the sentiment the kids are obviously not enjoying there footy. FMD Teflon is crediting Ross Lyon with Sinclair's form and Wood's form. Both became elite under the tutelage of Ratten. Sincs 2022 All Australian jacket had nothing to do with Ross the Boss. His 2022 stats versus 2023 are virtually identical https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?play...

Re: wallpaper fallen off - cracks exposed

We’ve been competitive at VFL level now that a few senior players are in that squad. We won last week and nearly pulled off a win today. That builds good culture. The other advantage of having senior players in the VFL is that it helps support our youth as they develop. Having 3-4 youngsters in the ...

Re: wallpaper fallen off - cracks exposed

Keep playing the kids. Give them a fair go the way Garcia and Hastie have had multiple games in a row…NOT the way we introduced Lance boy to his debut game. The other extreme is playing an 18 year old for each and every game and expecting them to perform like the senior more experienced players. You...

Re: Philipou’s Manager

Devils advocate point of view. You reap what you sow …right? Why treat the kid like he’s a star in 2023. He wasn’t the second coming. He wasn’t Chris Judd and he certainly wasn’t the Bont What am I talking about? The bleeding obvious of course. As soon as he had 2 or 3 bad games in 2023 he needed to...

The more useless statistic is Steele because what did he generate with ball in hand (when not tackling)? How many times did Steele control from the contest either kicking forward (including to 6/6/6) or dishing off to the bypass in space? Worms Roxanne worms!! Let’s look at numbers: Steele got 30 t...

any credence to the fact he's coaching one of the youngest and talentless teams in the comp? That’s rubbish and you know it. We have 2 current All Australians from the 2023 side. We have Jack Steele who is a dual All Australian like Jack Sinclair. We have a star in Brad Hill. He wave Seb Ross and M...

Re: RTB's Presser

And for what it's worth, we have a midfielder, albeit a champion, coaching the forward line and a midfield coach with no experience. Is this the norm among the top teams? Yes men perhaps? Yesmen tend to keep their jobs at St Kilda Let’s hope there’s someone who can challenge Ross during the week an...

Re: Votes Discussion Thread

Last year I was critical of Brad Crouch when he played a selfish brand of footy In some games he was outstanding. In some games he had a balance and he looked to dish off by hand. The problem with RoMa’s game yesterday was that there wasn’t a balance. I saw Sincs and NWM being ignored when he had th...

The player on 22 contested possessions (Stewie Leowe) When Stewie Loewe got 22 he would’ve taken a dozen contested marks no doubt. You know Marshall is having a good day and you know we are a good chance to win in a game when RoMa is taking contested marks He only got 1 for the day Wood got 4, Wilk...

Marshall was enormous 23 contested possessions A StK all time record - since that data has been recorded How many of his possessions resulted in direct turnovers and clangers? The stats say 14 of them. I remember one of his kicks from the full back line went straight to a Hawks player 20 m out dead...

Bonner was our scapegoat for the loss against Essendon. I suppose we had to blame someone He actually got a fair amount of footy and his work rate was there, but a few howlers were unforgivable I watched that Essendon match on replay and it wasn’t the worst game I’ve ever seen from a Saints player. ...

One day we’ll kick a perfect score of 20 goals and zero behinds.

5 Steele 4 Bonner 3 Battle 2 Wilkie 1 Wood Apologies to Windy, Marshall and NWM. It was a toss up for me between Wood and Windy for the 1 vote. Wood had more contested possessions than Windy and his disposal efficiency was markedly better. Windy tried his guts out, but needs a bit more polish in his...

Can see a few people giving Marshall best on. He got 28 touches at 50% disposal efficiency. 14 effective disposals He had 11 turnovers and another 4 clanger possessions….so let’s look at that and compare with his opponent Meek beat him as far as tap outs in the centre and probably broke even around ...

Ahhhh…so you didn’t

it’s called Aussie rules footy. It’s a pretty good level comp. He was outstanding in the last quarter against North

By the way…it was Dow’s second game at VFL level. Why does he need 3 warm up games?

Why the f*** did we recruit him again?

I am a Ross Lyon fan. The best coach to coach St Kilda in my memory. That said, he needs to own how we are playing in terms of attacking and hitting the scoreboard. Put the acid on a insipid midfield and dysfunctional forward half. Those are factors he can identify as requiring improvement, he simp...

Look, I just don’t agree with people blaming one player or 2-3 players for losses. I also don’t agree on the coach solely taking the blame. It’s a team game. You wear the losses the same as when you celebrate the victories…as a team The sooner they start doing that, the better our culture and the so...
