It's difficult. Players are under enormous pressure to perform and are being well paid to do so, but being in their 20's, they are entitled to a social life. The club will have rules in place and you would think that the players know the importance of keeping themselves in good nick. I hear that Col...

Love the new jumper! White contrasts strongly against black & red and doesn't need to be the same size as in the past. I think that other suggestions about including some red, black & white "edging" on the back, have merit, as they will add a Saints flavour to what is a plain...

Forward structure needs changing. All saints supporters can see that. No doubt the highly paid coaches see it also. What's going to be done about it?

Perhaps that all coaches were at Sandy yesterday, indicates that changes will be made for next week. :!:

The problem of a poor forward structure and Riewodt being double/triple teamed seems pretty obvious to all saints supportersa.

The coaches are being paid plenty to analyse the game. Perhaps that all coaches were at the Sandy game yesterday, indicates changes for for next week. Let's hope so. :!:

Forward entry & structure needs loads of work this week. Surely, double/triple teaming of Riewoldt opens other options.

Great report. It will be appreciated by many readers.

With all coaches present, I see a change or two coming for next week.
Without panicking, let's hope so.

That's why I included Tom Lynch - he's the same height as Riewoldt, but a bit lighter at the moment.

Any chance of this happening :?:

Next Week

No need to panic yet, but a touch of new blood is worth a look at. Cripps for McQualter & Lynch to add some forward bulk, for Peake. Some poor efforts from Gamble last night, but persevere with him for a few games to see what he can contribute. Forward entry & structure needs loads of work t...

It's early days. Geelong are a big bodied, experienced team, so matching them in these areas is ok with me. It's also likely to be a wet track. There is plenty of back-up, so a couple will have to perform on the night to retain their positions. Can see a Clarke/Goddard or Gilbert positional swap. Su...

It's always good to get a "behind -the-scenes" insight into what's happening. Full marks to the Saints management for getting on the front foot for a change. With great facilities, a great coach/mentor in RL, and playing AFL on the big stage, I can't see any way that these young guys will ...

Sandy Practice Match Performers

Read in the Age that Zac played well yesterday.

Any views from those at the match about who else went well and could be pushing for selection for Friday night ?

Geelong are an experienced, big bodied team. We will need to match up against this profile.

I have to agree with the Doc. Enduring year after year of under-performance in the past, cannot be called "enjoying your football." Take the recent years of success and treasure it - unlike those at Richmond. Trust me, winning far more than you lose, is most enjoyable, as at least you turn...

It's horses for courses. Geelong are a big bodied and experienced team. Our first game selections need to made with this in mind.
A different approach may need to be taken for the Essendon game. 8-)

This topic, whether you agree or disagree, has plenty of interest for many Saints suppoters. That there has been no "club response" to three formal letters, either via their website, or even a phone call, says a lot about what they think - lay low and let things slide. This is a very topic...

Club Membership is one thing as a donation, but Social Club members (another donation) should receive extra benefits from the Club - the GF ticket promise is only good while we are there. It seems that the extra benefits are only available to the Coterie Groups. Some good comments made on this topic...

Agree. With Raph & Gwilt looking to have improved, the backline seems to be in good hands. Today's newspaper photos show the pressure of two opponents on Roo at all times. Another marking option may neutralise the intense pressure that's put on him each week. Gilbo is certainly worth perserverin...

Must admit that I have been a "doubter" about Raph. It's seems that this year he has a lot more confidence and finesse about him.

With Gilbert going forward, his pace and height are much needed. Let's hope the hammies stand up! :D

Play the best 21 and then choose a sub.

A "permanent" sub will lose match fitness quickly due to limited ground time.

It will evolve during the year, but clearly the sub needs to be a versatile player, as you can't plan for injuries.

Yes, no doubt it will be a great night. I have been to a few functions also, but as others have said, it seems that the average supporter who struggles to pay membership for family and children, is no longer being catered for in any meaningful way - at a lower cost level. The club is structuring thi...
