It's not that easy. We really don't know how Walsh will measure up. Lynch may be better up forward. Blake may be required as a backup ruckman. Geary should give good rum, and Baker can still close down a tough opponent. Goddard & Dempster may need to spend more time in the back half. I'd like to...

Quite frankly, I don't much value in the Social Club. I've been a member since Moorabin and Waverly days. For years, I always headed to the Social Club for a been after the game, but since we've been at Jihad stadium, I just don't bother.

Thought he would have given us more drive than Polo, and was dissapointed he was on the bench. He was a huge asset when he came on. He'd be in my starting 21.

I thought he may have done a hammy in about the 2nd quarter. He did get a bit of the ball, but looked a bit restricted to me

Attact and structure creates confidence

In the first quarter we had forward structure, and we moved the ball forward with confidence and precision. In the 2nd and 3rd, we tried to play negative possession football. When we had the ball, there were no forward targets, and we looked awefull. Then, after we lost the lead in the final term, w...

It happened in front of me, and it appeared to be an elbow to the throat behind the play. If Steven Baker did that he'd get 16 weeks!

Cooney is more like Goddard than Hayes. In fact, I'd say he was the most similar player to Goddard in the league.

We got smashed in the midfield, had no help from the umpire at critical stages, and were overrun by superior fitness in the last 40 minutes. Even with Robert Harvey was in the commentry box, we would have probably still lost.

Fair point, I'd like to think the young guys will improve with some experience. To beat this Collingwood team, we need pace, experience and skill.

Great post one-eye. I'm liknig the positive way you're thinking, but how does this new line up help us get more clearances? 'cause your right, we gotta get more clearances! Zac is being critisised in another couple of threads, but if the opposition is getting the ball out of the middle easily it make...

Different Game Plan

There was something subtely different about our game style against Freo. Riewoldt and Milne were not the exclusive go-to guys. Was Roo playing a bit further up the field? Were Gilbert & Fisher in our mid-field for a lot of the time? And Dal was on the last line. Were we quick, clean and direct t...

Was Lenny kicked in the leg?

Or am I just a one-eyed cynic?

There has been zero discussion in the media, and even on this web site?

If Steven Baker did something like that the AFL would probably have him sent to Pentridge for +20 years.

Yes, the game plan is too physically and mentally taxing. It's also aweful to watch. We have a lot of players with fantastic skills, let them go out and have fun, and take the game on. If we go man vs man against most teams, we should win. Our team appears to lack pace because they are forced to run...

The Lyon game plan worked in 2009, and almost in 2010, but is way too defensive for 2011. We are too negative, and too slow. We need a more attacking, and positive game plan. There is no place for slow and unskilled players in our 2011 team. Dempster especially needs to make way for Heyne. Steven Ba...
