Re: Which is the better King??

I think the whole “they grew up supporting (insert club)” so they’re more likely to want to go there is massively overplayed, and just something supporters like to romanticise about. How many players end up at the club they supported as a kid? 5-10% if that? And I would say that’s a lot more due to...

Re: Saints coaching merry - go - round

For a club with such an unenviable record, it's truly remarkable that GT, Stan Alves and Ken Sheldon were all shafted after finals campaigns.
We've got a ripper at the moment and the club needs to ensure it holds onto him.

Re: Sincs and Taking His Game to the Next Level.

I've always hoped Sinc would become a solid, regular contributor to the side. Certainly, 2020 saw an elevation in his game but not quite enough to ensure he's cemented a spot. I guess that's the reason for the thread: can this be the year he does so? I like his ground coverage, speed and his tacklin...

Re: Do the right thing Gears!

Can see both sides of the matter here. Geary is clearly an unfashionable footballer: he lacks flair and his disposal / execution can often be found wanting. He's certainly been the source of frustration many times. Yet no one can dispute his courage, persistence or dedication. Something that seems t...

Re: Essendon offer for Hind

I agree with an earlier post that Hind has more strings to his bow than Lonie. Maybe he could be developed on a half back flank as they’ve successfully done with Ben Long. His pace is a real asset. But given Essendon has now formally expressed interest and the club probably needs to be prudent with ...

Some of the most unheralded recruits to the club have been off-field. Not just bringing in coaching talent in the form of Ratts & Roughy but our list recruitment and administrative sides. I can’t recall the last time the club was so stable, focused and driven for excellence

Re: Swans chasing Paddy McCartin

Good luck to Paddy if he wants to restart his career and clubs are keen to snap him up... but really it’s a disaster waiting to happen. Not questioning his football ability at all but the ‘minor’ issue of 8 concussions that left him a shadow of his former self. All it takes is one crunch in a markin...

Sinclair's improvement mirrors that of so many players in 2020. Regardless of what happens this coming Friday, there's lots of upside to this list in the coming years.

I think bringing in Hind is a good move. Pity we don't have an X factor to bring in like they have with Lynch.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers

Battle would have to be doubtful for Friday's match... unless he's treated with analgesics and then risks further structural damage down the track. Obviously the loss of Ryder, Long and (possibly) Carlisle is far from ideal but I guess the only way to look at it is that from crisis comes opportunity...

Re: Umpires ruin another season

As with any game of footy, there are questionable decisions. But today the loss lies with the players and not umpiring decisions. We had command of general play in the first half but squandered chances. The same for the first half of the third quarter. I think Marshall was fortunate to have been awa...

Re: WDYT? Saints got wiff of the impending news at half time?

Don’t subscribe to this given that the Saints continued their dominance of play from the outset of the second half. As we’ve all come to learn, if you fail to take advantage of that dominance, you risk the opposition eventually capitalising. We had ample opportunities to extend our lead in the third...

Zak was the standout player for the game. Yes he missed a few shots but his bullocking work and pace around the ground were real positives.

Re: New 2020 guernseys

Glad to learn that others here also think that our crest has been undervalued. The crest has been progressively shrinking over the past 20-25 years. Historically, it’s our one point of difference from all other clubs’ strips and yet it has now become overwhelmed by sponsor logos. The stitched on bla...

There has been some astute off-field recruits (eg. Slater, Roughead) that could offer that intangible quality that you refer to SamuraiSaint.
