Stanley was serviceable, especially his tackle count which was outlined in another thread, but I have to say that his ruckwork (especially from throw ins) was woeful. He is still lightly framed, and the throw in is the biggest test of strength for a ruckman, so it is very understandable, but at the ...

I'm not convinced we can play both in the same side and at the moment Eddy is showing a lot more, including on the scoreboard. Gardiner has to come back in. Hansen yesterday showed that Dawson will need to come back in. Baker will probably come back in and many will call for Steven to come in also....

If anyone can replicate CJ's efforts in getting where he is now, it would be Eddy.

Re: Those outside the 22 that MAY play finals..

If Baker comes back though all of Demptser, Geary, Eddy will not play. That doesn't make much mathematical sense. I thought Dempster had been put in to play Baker's role, as seen in the Geelong game where he played a role on Stevie J. It looks like at least one of Dempster Geary and Eddy are safe. ...

i'd be surprised if it was anyone other than pattison in the final ins. would like to see dempster out for steven, but i accept that steven's probably not going to get a defensive role at this stage in his career so it's unlikely to happen. good week for the roos to try to play david hale back into...

I loathe soccer so my suggestion is not about trying to emulate it. The shape of the ball and whether there is a consolation prize for bad kicking are two different things. My remark was meant in jest, but if you can't see the humour in it, do at least try to be logical. A strange expression of jes...

I wouldn't mind if they abandoned behinds altogether. It has always seemed bizarre to me, there's a consolation prize for poor kicking. Therefore, if it grazed the post going through, it would still be a goal. I hasten to add, this would not apply retrospectively so Barry Breen's point would stand....

Brad Miller would be a very very handy third tall. Has the capability to kick big bags. As the third prong in the attack he would receive lessened attention. Always rated him based on talent. Out of the team for work rate i've heard... but that shouldn't be too much of an issue with Roo standing nex...

Lynch in for Gardiner, like to see him playing ff ,kosi in ruck, though dont think it will happen Not this week. North have a particularly short backline which could be exploited by Kosi, or a resting ruckman working as second fiddle to Roo. Lynch doesn't have the height or experience to play full fo...

Don't know whether Varcoe and Wellingham are considered fringe players anymore  Fringe fast players are hard to come by. Off the top of my head i can think of Tambling, Jordan McMahon, maybe one of the Jettas. Ideally you want to raid one of the very quick teams who have pace coming from eve...

Simpkin in to play Chips' role and chips forward and Kozi in ruck??? Very interesting suggestion. Fisher wasn't brilliant as a forward in Roo's abesense but as the second forward it could work a treat. If it was to work, and Simpkin was holding his own in the backline, it might be a set up to go wi...

I think talent selection is not an exact science and we are always going to regret some draft day decisions. For example, if we had the choice again today I think the majority of us would select Frawley or Jack Riewoldt over Armo, Cyril before big Benny and Dayne Beams before Tom Lynch. I hope all ...

Absolute disgrace it has taken a tall a few seasons to develop. Should have taken Rioli. I get the sarcasm mate but I wouldn't have minded Cyril's pace and goalkicking in last years GF. I think Benny is going to be great but it is always a risk to use a first round pick on a ruckman as you just nev...

i wouldnt mind Mitch Morton either... Yep. I rate him highly as a player. As a forward who is very difficult to match up on, or even a wingman. I have been bewildered that he hasnt been a regular starter under Hardwick. Abit of Ross discipline and the guy could be an absolute star. I see many simil...

Re: Where do we want the cats to finish

If the dogs win the next 2 games and we win next week the cats could finish fourth. Is that our preferred option. It certainly is mine. Have not thought of that scenario, but i like it, a lot... that scenario was nicely worded. but that involved the dogs beating the cats with serious ladder positio...

It might be a chance for Kosi to show that he can hold down a spot in the ruck and Stanley comes in to play in the forward line. If that was on the cards you would have thought that Kosi would have been given at least 50% of ruck time after Gardi went down. But he didn't play there very much at all...

I guess so.

But at some point or another you are going to have to play and beat the very best teams to get the big one.

So I am resigned to the fact that regardless of where we finish, be it cats dogs or pies, we will need to be at our very best.

Suddenly our depth isn't looking all gloom and doom.

With Zac and Baker still pressing for spots.
Steven on the cusp.
Armo may return to form just in time.
Stanley and Pattison as viable options.
And the elevation of Simpkin.

All you need is one big demolition and things look nice again...

Yep. He was everywhere, and playing to his strengths.

The only issue with Peake is his disposal effectiveness, but even this has improved in recent times.
