Re: Third Sponsor Event - Urgent Response required from the Sponsorship Group.

I haven't been paying attention. Have we been allocated a limited number of seats for this occasion? Are we raffling them off between ourselves? I'd be happy to attend for the 'Dogs game. But I am very happy just going with my footy gang too though. If it's competitive getting a seat I'll leave it f...

Re: Votes v Dons

I know Bonner stuffed up a number of times. (Like everyone else, I'm not convinced he's a reliable enough defender.) But he had almost twice as many kicks as anyone else, and he picked up more than a kilometre's worth of metres gained. I don't recall a St Kilda player ever getting near that (since ...

Re: Changes for next week

I didn't see the first half of Sandy v Coll, but in the second half the outstanding efforts came from Campbell (throughout) and Hastie (in several brilliant flashes). Schoenmaker did most of his good work in the first half, apparently. Butler, Caminiti, etc, did virtually nothing in the 2nd. So Butl...

I think we can win, but with our outs at the moment I think we'll go down by 2 or 3 goals.
Or worse.

Re: Webster appalling

Maynard's collision was the aftermath of him actually trying to smother the ball. Jimmy's was just a bad decision to jump in and crunch the player. That said, I'm still a fan of Jimmy's -- one of the truly courageous footballers around. I feel sure he was aiming at a hip and shoulder encounter. But ...

I'm not on that list, but I've just paid for two shares I said I'd buy last week or so ago.
Hope there's still something in Mr Magic's pool.
Thanks for underwriting like that.

Re: Super Bowl thread

It is a bizarre game -- hard to know how it evolved into what it is and actually survived.
It's almost the opposite of footy, but it's the only other football code I'll watch.
It's brilliant, in tiny bursts. With amazing technical analysis and crazy palaver packed all around it.

Re: Something Personal

Sadly didn't get to 1913 either -- 1965 was the first game of footy I ever saw. Trained it down from Canberra overnight with my dad. He only just missed 1913, so he had to be there. By the end I was completely dumbfounded that Essendon wouldn't just let us win. That was a lesson in life. Saw '66 -- ...

Re: Arie Schoenmaker’s club punishment

We'll, in the end he'll sink or swim based on his own motivation. Will be an interesting watch at Sandringham this season. Every year there are highly rated draftees who never make the transition from U18 to AFL. Some can't hack the workload, some can't hack the discipline, and some can't hack the ...

I've only just started it -- a Xmas present.
It really is an excellent read.
Nicky Winmar was my all-time favourite Saint -- truly a genius footballer.
Matt Hardy is a genius collaborator, getting Nicky's story down on paper.
Brilliant, clear storytelling, from the best.

Yep it was a great conversation to listen to. Mason Wood opening up and saying so much interesting and intelligent stuff. The interviewer guy's an enthusiast -- probably interrupting and over-engaging a little too much -- but he set up a nice rapport, which is what made Mason Wood so listenable to. ...

Here's my stab: Promote Marshall to number 1 And Mason Wood to 2 They are club leaders Wilkie (who obviously deserves to be promoted) I feel likes to stay at 44. Sharman and Caminiti can be promoted to 23 and 27 (with some memory of their old nos 43 and 47) Then, Henry 4 Dow 15 Bonner 19 Wilson 24 ...

Re: Erin Phillips retired!

I support our Saints W team and I expect news and views on them to be fully a part of this website. They play in the W league, and just like with the M league, sometimes when something really big happens in footy, it comes up here, even if not Saints related. (We all do follow footy, after all) Erin...
