Roma is a better version of English. Also English has a much better midfield.

Re: It's time to move Nasiah
Run and spread. We can win the ball but lack outlets. Doesn't need to scrap and win ball but should be first or second receiver on the outside. We are obsessed with winning ball at the detriment of disposal quality. I would also argue a lot of our midfield deficiency is in general play rather than s...

Re: Team for Saturday
Hopefully in hindsight, we can look at 2024 as the season we had to have to move forward.
Just need my dopamine hits and slowly accepting I ain't getting any from the saints this year.

Re: Mid season draft
Like I said, not doubting his skill or ability. But we put together a highlights package consisting of plenty of ball winning but also plenty of kick and hope. I'm sure there was much better vision to use.

Laura Kane has no decision making authority in the AFL.
She is a puppet of the highest order.
Employed to sell plaudits of status quo.

Re: No injuries - No excuses
No injuries, but very light on for talent with experience and conditioning. It's a good point and I believe it's the reason we fell off last year. We hit round 1 at the level of fitness most teams aim to hit the finals. We had a huge injury list and whilst we got good players back, they didnt have ...

It's time to move Nasiah
Now is the time to move Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera from half back. He has proven he is bordering on elite in this role in 2023, and despite some attention so far this year has been in our better players in that role. I hate to make it all about Collingwood, but Nick Daicos' game last night got my atten...

Re: Votes vs Dees
My understanding of the TBA is that votes are given to each player based on their contribution.
The total number of votes given is not fixed, so that for a loss, a lot less votes are awarded than in a win.

Re: Mid season draft
Just watched the highlight reel, plenty of dump kicks out of congested stoppages. Just what we need more of.
Not discounting his talent but if the club thinks that's a highlight reel it shows why we are in the predicament we are in.

No Jack Peris or Dan McKenzie to be seen in the picks. But disappointed for Peris I thought he had something to bring to the game.

Re: "As far from a flag as anyone in the league"
The coach may not be our issue but he is holding all the cards in his hand to fix it. And if he can't, nobody else will be able to, because he has taken over at all levels of the footy dept.

Re: Deck chairs on the titanic
IMO offering Howard to a club cheaply to ward off a bid for Battle is a viable strategy. But I wouldn't want to get rid of him for next to nothing. We have had no success with developing our own key defenders from the draft.

Re: Mid season draft
I'm not sure a VFL level midfielder is the answer to any of our problems. If their development ceiling isn't high, then it's just blocking other draftees from playing that role.
I will say if he is drafted by us and is a gun, the Launceston game will retrospectively be the Max Hall cup.

Re: "As far from a flag as anyone in the league"
On the "go back to go forward", I could swallow this if it was last year. But we seem to have gone forward to go backwards.
That's arse about if I've ever seen it.

Re: Leadership group
That 'system' was obviously born under Grant Thomas. Great leadership is empowering individuals to become leaders themselves Grant gave trust and confidence and guidance. He mentored our young recruits. This is a great take, and I have a few things I'd like to unpack in response to it. 1. Success o...

Re: Bassat has a lot to answer for
Snap decisions to throw magnets around doesn't help build a team. Each week we should try one thing and assess it. Stick with that change for a few weeks. Change too many things at once and you don't know which one actually made the impact. It's the same with 'playing the kids'. You can't play too m...

Re: Leadership group
If we rely on the coaches for everything on game day, we will go nowhere.
Clearly there are some gaps here especially around our ability to close out tight ones.
No wonder Ross is complaining about the number of runner messages.
Teach, empower, engage the playing group.

For a MSD pick you're bringing in a role player to fill an immediate need. Not necessarily drafting for the long term future.

Re: Leadership group
We've been void of AFL-standard leadership since Riewoldt retired. And why was Riewoldt a good leader? Because he was developed under a system that understood what leadership really meant. Who do we have? 1- Steele - Capt 2 - Wilkie- VC 3 - Sinclair 4 - Ross 5 - Marshall How many of those actually ...

Re: Leadership group
Steele has gotten away for a very long time with being the captain by being a good player and leading by example.
Now it's clear we need different on field leadership - of the old captain-coach style.
