Re: Let’s talk about cheating

We didn’t deserve to win. The game was always played on Port’s terms. However, on this occasion, we got absolutely reamed by the umps. Was it a conspiracy, no? Did it cost us the game, unlikely. But did it affect the final margin being even closer and our chances of snatching an unlikely victory. A...

Re: Let’s talk about cheating

Margin was probably right. Port wasteful at times. Umpiring disgusting. Yes those balance out, but ports kicking was their own doing. I'm not one to log on after every loss and blame the umps but they did determine the outcome tonight. The outcome should be determined by the players. Port's inaccur...

Re: Garcia. Great Debut

Geeze he's got intensity and tenaciousness in spades. Imagine if Jack Billings that those qualities - would be a Brownlow medalist. Garcia clearly needs a couple of pre seasons in the gym but I think the small forward pressure role suits him well for now in Butler's absence. Then in a year or two he...

Re: Aberration or reality check or both?

It was shitfull That’s what it was - a reality check for people who think we are better than we are Will finish 12th to 14th this season Don't think you can definitively say that we won't finish higher than 12th. Our mid-season fixture is a whole lot easier than the start of the year so I could see...

Re: Phillipou Close to Signing

I certainly hope he re-signs but he has been gifted games for the past 12 months. Outside of the occasional good overhead grab and some slick hands in congestion he isn't offering much. Was so impressive at the beginning of last year but now he's looking like a big Jack Billings with lower production

Re: Garcia. Great Debut

Pou best at St Kilda and 14th in the league for pressure acts this year. Top 20 in the league for tackles inside 50. It's clear he wants to do well with and without the ball. Pressure acts to me is an odd statistic. To some degree, they indicate that you're failing to be first to the ball on a regu...

Re: Owens

Owens might need a couple of weeks at Sandy if he keeps playing like he is, he's nowhere near his best this season. He might need a running coach next off season, he's as slow as. You think a 20 year old half forward will be dropped if he continues to go at 15 disposals (8 contested), a goal and 3 ...

Showed why he was delisted by Port. He looked great in the pre season but I wondered how he'd stand up to the pressure in the real season. Looks like he crumbles. I'd rather stick with Hastie

Have to appeal that. Elbow was tucked, no raised forearm like the AFL article state. Late bump, doesn't look like there was any head contact. Free kick, no more

Re: Team structure was warped IMO

Zaine Cordy (8 possessions, 2 marks) had no impact and while his experience placed him ahead, I thought Arie Schoenmaker, following his 11 marks 2 weeks ago, would have been done a better job. I'm no huge fan of Cordy but his job was to keep Hawkins (9 disposals, 3 marks, 1 goal, 1 behind) quiet an...

Re: Phillipou

I see some similarities with his situation and Nas in his second year. Nas clearly has talent but he had some major deficiencies in his game in his first year, but once he re-signed he seemed to be so much more confident and assured. His future has more clarity and he could just focus on his footy. ...

As some others have said, Collard easily could have had 3 shots on goal if his teammates didn't burn him. Could've been the matchwinner. Had some zip and ran to the right spots

Re: Team structure was warped IMO

We had one AFL standard onballer in the middle for most of the game. Carrying Pou at half forward is one thing but having him play the entire first half as a starting mid was a terrible decision if we're trying to win games and make finals this year. Windy and Owens would have been far more competit...

Re: HS article 16/3 Naz

Not enough is being made about how good Nas is. Maybe it's because he was so incredibly consistent rather than showing flashes like most second year players do. Wouldn't surprise me to see him in the AA squad this year. His first year was so-so but his second year was amazing. Gutsy and inspired sel...

Re: Lance Collard

Lance seems to be doing all the right things to put himself in a position to get a game in round one. With Butler likely out we need a specialist small forward. Seems like his running is pretty good for an 18 year old and he's very dynamic around goals. I'm excited to see what he can bring

Re: David King on St Kilda 2024

I can't take anything he says seriously after the whole Gresham/Carlisle basket case. "If they wanted Gresham so badly they should have just taken him at 5. Carlisle will never play a game for St Kilda" He could not comprehend that it was a good outcome to get Carlisle plus Gresham with pi...

What i do know is Hayes and probably Jones will be training away from the group. They will be my first 2 delistings at years end. Is this a new development with Jones? All reports so far indicate that he is fit, firing and killing it at training Recent reports I’ve read have said he’s being “ manag...

Re: Arie Schoenmaker’s club punishment

I think that this is clearly a corrective/disciplinary measure. We've had plenty of draftees whose fitness wasn't up to scratch and the club has never issued a statement saying that they've been sent to train with the VFL team to bridge professional standards. You're being somewhat delusional if you...

Seems like physicality and defensive work were the issues. Makes sense that he'd excel in the low pressure environment of pre season training. Definitely has skills and run

Re: Round 1 - Cats vs Saints

Round one team selection is going to be fascinating. Caminiti vs Sharman? Does Seb get a gig? Wilson? Howard vs Cordy? Can Paton force his way back now that his injury is well behind him? Do Webster and Stocker hold their spots? Where does Windy play? Does Pou have to truly earn his spot this season...
