Re: Do you enjoy supporting the Saints?
Been supporting the Saints for decades- but haven't enjoyed it much as time goes on. I'm not really in the fan club of any coach, but I was very disappointed with the Lyon leaving, Watters changeover, very disappointed with the lack of support the management of the club, and a few sooky senior playe...

Re: Sandy at Wonthaggi
Clark definitely deserves a call up to the seniors, most likely for Hastie. I'm not sure about Dow. In both the games I've seen Dow play, he has struggled with the pace in the early stages and has only begun to deliver much after half time. At AFL level the players tend to be a little fitter, so th...

Not going to leave Carlton for us as long as his @rse points to the ground. Fine by me if we up his price and stretch Carlton’s salary cap. Tall defenders are not our pressing issue. Midfielders and more of them please. Like most others I wonder why Owens is not tried as a mid, there must be a reas...

Re: Byrnes for Zebs
Maybe just lost confidence- I did see him on the wing against a Hawk twice his size who was grabbing lots of marks and was wondering why they left him there (could just be that Batchelor is a sh*t coach). But in that game, all our mids/ on ballers were terrible and only put in a passable effort late...

Re: Philipou’s Manager
Might be a foolish thing to put on line as a manager, but probably factual. Owens and Pou are young players out of form, and clearly can't carry out what Lyon's game plan needs, and King is highly talented but doesn't work hard enough defensively.

Re: We are kidding ourselves.
We require ruck assistance for Marshall (Heath on our List) We require defensive assistance for Howard, our only KPP defender with size And we need to move on from the one paced (slow) mids we put in there week after week after week They do not only not provide breakaways from contests, they also l...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Let’s not let the truth get in the way of a good story Here’s some truth for you armchair I counted 8 clearances between Marshall and Steele from a stoppage where they turned and kicked the ball directly forward. The ball went low and somewhere between 15 - 30 metres in a straight line towards the ...

Got to base my votes on effective effort over four quarters, not just stats so..
5. Battle
4. Wilke
3. Bonner
2. Marshall ( though his opponent did well early)
1. Steele (another slow start to a game but I'll cut him slack for coming good later)

Re: RTB's Presser
I remember well the time around the club when Lyon left years back- it was common knowledge that he wasn't interested in rebuilding teams. The Lyon I used to notice at training back then looks and sounds a lot different than the one I've seen at training now. Back then he was clearly driven and whol...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
Whether the game plan is right or wrong doesn’t explain dropped marks, fumbles, missed tackles, mis-kicks, poor accuracy. Too many players not up to it. That's the kind of thing you have a coach for- amongst other things, to work on deficiencies. I think Lyon is only interested in a game plan and s...

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Hawks
We need give Tim a rest and bring Coops back in- usually looks more like he is going to kick a goal and tries to take a few screamers. Very unimpressed with King and Hayes as well today- letting the Hawks dictate the play.

Re: Team vs Hawks
Paton is the sub Breust for Hawks Do’h I don’t get it. What could you hope to get from Paton late in the game other than for him to come on and possibly blanket a staring Hawk mid. I’d have had him top 22 or nothing Sub out Henry or Wood or Membrey or Ross, or Hayes and put Paton in the middle and ...

Might just be a case of one of those highly fancied recruits who don't crack it at senior AFL level. I wish him well, but I'm not seeing much so far.

Given Hawthorn beat WB, who thrashed us by controlling the ball (and have done it before against us), imagine the vitriolic response on this Forum if Hawthorn also beat us!!!!! No St Kilda player will be spared - all duds by varying descriptions of their missing attributes The internet, hey? And ke...

No comparison to Roo at the same stage of his career. None at all. Definitely not.... 2001Nick waltzes into Harvard - Gehrig, Everitt, Loewe, Hall...with Hamill, Hayes, Harvey, Milne in the mid and small forwards....SUPPORT. ALL DAY EVERY GAME...for years. King crawls into Frankston TAFE and he's g...

Re: Ins and Outs
So far, Arie is not showing enough to get a senior game at this stage, same for Collard. Dow was ok but nothing spectacular in the last Sandy game. I would like to see Hastie get more senior games as opposed to Pou who looks out of his depth this season.

Re: King ...out of form or
Never heard so many excuses for a player not performing. Best way to counter that is to go get the ball, make the play, not sit back and demand it on a platter close to goal. Lyon just needs to play him up the ground as a high half forward.

Re: Ins and Outs
I think it's time for a run at Sandy by two players who are basically off the pace, Pou and Owens. The return of Hayes, who has only played a small number of AFL games, showed that they need to up their efforts. Probably Sharman is more useful and can be swung around in different roles and could be ...

Re: King ...out of form or
I feel like that a form slump is what Max needs to break the shackles of expectation. Once he no longer feels the teams weight on his shoulder he can be freed to just play good footy. It's a team game and all the players have a weight on their shoulders to perform, not just Max. We can't wait for p...

Re: win banked and move on
I think we all agree Saturday was an odd feeling - got a win , which is a new thing of recent times, however the expectation based more on North's poor performances rather than St Kilda's expected a bigger more dominant win. North have a good midfield and solid ruck, Larky can be good and Sheezel i...

Re: Byrnes, Bonner Not up to it..
Byrnes is slowly improving and will get better, but he hasn't been our worst player this season and Bonner is not too bad and should keep his spot. I'm more concerned that Pou, Owens and Membrey are not having much impact this season and need to pull their finger out.

If we do our trademark slow start, then Norf might run over us early and we will again have to resort to catch up footy. I just hope we do a better job of tackling and winning one-on-ones
