Re: Private Ownership ?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Melbourne_Football_Club North Melbourne is unique in its structure, because from 1986 to 2006 the club was privately owned and limited by shares. The club was floated in 1986 through a membership vote led by then chairman Bob Ansett. At the meeting, members were en...

Re: Ready for 2015? I am!

Football in 2914. There will be no stadiums as we know of today. You will enter a room that will be set up just like a current day private box. The glass in front of you will be a screen that has virtual reality, from players to umpires, goal post and crowds. No real people, as former players took t...

Re: Really bad expressions and cliches used by commentators

Recently the TV commentators were talking about kicking the ball into "Touch". They also say that the boundary rider is on the "Side Lines". When our footballers are on the ground fighting for the ball it looks nothing like a "Scrum". These are all Rugby, and Rugby Leag...

Don't know if this photo has been posted on SS before. Even if it has, it is worth another look. It looks like the ol' Junction Oval. Does anyone know these two people? The cap that the guy on the right is wearing were very popular in the 1970's, and hand or home machine knitted scarfs were even mor...

Re: D gone . Implications for saints?

Debt? The debt is caused by pouring millions into Gold Coast and GWS. This added to the draft concessions mean that lifetime supporters of foundation clubs may not see a premiership in their lifetime. I have stalled renewing my Fox Footy subscription. The greed of the AFL commission will only increa...

He had recently warned tenant clubs if the league took control of the stadium it would not necessarily mean better returns, for the AFL could use the money generated from hosting matches to repay debt. Re: Congratulations Lenny and Brian

There were enduring names involved in the Subiaco team that broke a 49-year premiership drought in 1973. The captain-coach was Ross Smith, a member of St Kilda’s premiership team of 1966, as was Brian Sierakowski, who lined up a centre-half-forward for Subiaco. Peter Featherby played in the centre a...

Re: Jimmy and John and 'that' day...

I did not see the incident at Moorabbin that day.
But there is one person who would know exactly what happened.

It may be time for Jimmy O'Dea to produce an autobiography.
They could then make a telly movie with half the profit going directly to John Greening.

Choco will want more than a Guinea, new or old.

Will Choco ask Chad Cornes to be an assistant coach?

Re: Pick 19 and some other nobody for a club champion

If Nick was required to play out his contract in 2014, we would have lost him as a free agent in 12 months. They will be looking at changing free agency compensation at the end of this trade period. In 12 months we would probably get less compo. The club has done the right thing for the future. We d...

I can understand where the OP is coming from. But what about the current Premiers, others ask? They played games at Glenferrie Oval from 1903 to 1973 & trained there until 2006. I went there on at least two occasions to watch us play the Hawks. It was a small muddy ground and the atmosphere was ...

In his early days on radio, Finey would be positive most of the time about the Saints. The problem was that he would be hammered on the SMS, and opposition fans would call in and bag him for always talking about St.Kilda. The truth was that he gave the Saints no more time than other clubs. But some ...
