Well Dave, I'm never hopeful when we travel west.

Hoping the result at Goodison provides a distraction!

It allowed Port to regroup.

I was furious as soon as the invasion started, so it's not as if the effect couldn't be anticipated.

I hope the clowns who ran on the ground are pleased with themselves. It may be drawing a long bow, but I think there's a very good chance that they cost us a flag.

I'd keep Kosi though... you can replace mids, it's much harder to replace talls who can play (despite his lack of output thus far). Indeed. And Milne, he is a one of a kind player who many on here don't appreciate. It's not his fault that he is on the receiving end of poor delivery / 1 on 3 contest...

Re: Speed factor

... We have Steve Milne & Jason Gram who do similar things but they dont have that 'X' factor ... We do have the X factor, he's been injured most of the year. I'm surprised that you have just realised that we lack leg speed and, in particular, a "burn 'em off" type player. Haven't had...

Vozzo is a worry too.

He's taken over from McLaren as the king of weird decisions against St Kilda.

Keep a close eye on him and you'll see three or four of them during the course of the game, usually on our half back line.

I get nervous about every damn game - a 50 point margin at 3/4 time gets me starting to feel reasonable. It must be an age thing after years of pain and suffering - football not marriage :D I'm the same. I was still worried last Saturday with 5 minutes left. It was only the Hawthorn supporters stre...

We could try, but they were much quicker than us, and they seem to have three or four guys who can take a mark under pressure while running flat out.

I still think we are better than Collingwood though. We threw that one away.

Well, I was going to say that maybe he could assist in developing a new forward structure but then I realised that this would presuppose that we have a forward structure to begin with. There must be a better strategy than 'kick it to Milne'. All it needs is some genius to figure out what it should be.

who is our forward coach and what is he teaching the players? whatever we are paying him, its too much. Agree. Collingwood are quicker than us and got some easy goals as a consequence, but the game was there for the taking, and I left feeling that the better team lost. We did enough defensively to ...

[quote="spert"]Don't write us off.. we are actually 5th on the ladder and if we stay in the 8, we play finals and it's a new ball game. Under Sheldon we got in the finals, under Alves we got into a GF and under Thomas we also got in the finals --no premiership though, and that's ultimately...

So, well said.

Well, having seen the video of Hall against the Eagles, I can see where the attempted striking thing might come in to play. In the first instance, Hall actually tried to punch the Eagles player, but missed. He then tried to elbow the other guy in the head, but missed again. The final blow was the th...

This is another danger game, just as the Footscray game was. We lost to Essendon last year, and should have lost to them the year before. We no longer have the wood on them. Essendon ran rings round Footscray for a full quarter a couple of weeks ago and would have gone on to win had they not run out...

I get the heeby geebies every time we play this mob.

September 1992, and then that shocker we put in at the MCG a couple of years ago.

We are always better than them on paper, but now and again they all play out of their skins against us.

This is a danger game.

I have often thought it strange in footy that we expect a player to ignore the whistle and play on when they think they have an advantage, and inflict a 50 metre penalty on them if they get it wrong. I think that the soccer system is best, where if the refereee notices a free kick, and the side ear...

Back to the serious point raised in the original message. The situation is even more ridiculous in rugby union. The ref awards a penalty, but allows play to continue while holding his arm in the air. The play can go on for another minute or so, but if the team with the ball doesn't score, or ends up...

It was his best game for us. Whether he is stiff is another matter.

He did a fantastic cross-field run at one stage and got himself into good position on the other side of the ground moments later.

The mark was shear guts, and the goal that followed won us the game.

A profound observation from my partner who I took to her first game of football on Saturday night. I haven't read through all the above posts, and this might be a strange thing to say, but I reckon Wayne Carey is the most over-rated player I've seen.
