My issue is the financial impact of the draw. The actual playing perspective it is not too bad, 4 of the top eight teams, 15 at the dome 1 trip to Perth. The worry is with 10 Sunday games sponsors will get less kick for their buck, hence will not pay as much. This will potentially have an effect on ...

Cousins ( if fit and ok) will help our midfield in a huge way but that alone will not be enough. We need : * Armitage to become a solid midfielder * Dal Santo to work out how to beat a tag * Ball to stay fit * Hayes to play angry but not get reported * Montagna to be more consistant * Gram to play i...

If this is the case I would much rather play ugly and win a grand final than play pretty and finish bottom 3. If this is true then the AFL is weaker than I thought. The TV deal is already paid so really they should not bend to the TV stations demands entirely. You can't tell me Adeladie play pretty ...

Once again the AFL has bent us over. You would think helping them out by playing in Carrara they would throw some favours. 10 sunday games for a team that finished 4th. Traditionally temas that finish in the cellar get these games. 1 friday night game in Melb 2 trips to AAMI in first 5 weeks both of...

Lets see if any delisted players get picked up by any other clubs, then you have an agrument they may have been hardly done by. As supporters we tend to overrate some players and bag the cr*p out of others.

Wouldn't you just pick the best available player at 13? We are not in a position to say we will forgo a better midfielder for example to get a big who would otherwise go 19 . Plenty of areas to fill and if nothing else will provide future trade possibilities in that position if we become overloaded ...

IT would be great if it was like Richmond. After 10 years everyone gets invited to a free cocktail party at Crown where they mix with the players- my wife has been 3 times and raves about it. After 25 years they get guaranteed finals tickets. On the card is great but really something like this will ...

if you are going to change the rushed behindmake it they cannot kick in until the flags are waved - the old rule. Don't chnage the scoring or penalise a possession as too subjective, at least this way if it is wrong then the only penalty is time and you still have the ball

Expectations

I find it strange the amount of expectation placed on 1st year players by supporters in regard to what they will contribute in year 1. No other football code in the world has as many 18 year olds come in to the system and expect contributions straight away. Rugby League - Generally debut older than ...

Would Sydney look at 2nd rounder plus Jarred Allen for ROK? I cannot see where Allen fits with us if Kosi is FF / Ruck and McEvoy long term appears to be able to do a similar role.

1998 - 2008 History repeats

Geelong just did a north. Game was theirs to grabinthe second 1/4 , let the hawks hang around and ended up getting smashed.

Was Mooney's game almost a mirror of on B Hall a couple years ago.

Trade gossip v reality

This time of the year seems to have the gossip flying re trades. Names pop up, especially if your last game was poor and others from other clubs suddenly become great or clibs become dumb. My thoughts: Kosi- unlikely to be traded. You do not get rid of 25 year old 6 foot 6 players who can take a con...

On thing to remember on delisting

Whiel changes are required it must be remembered that depth is also required. It is no use delisting say a fiora and replacing him with a pick 70 odd who will spend 2 years in res and may never play an AFL game. While for some time is up there is no benefit to go to over the top as we will be even s...

Season 2008 and looking forward

I think about a 7 out of 10 is a fair score for the year, 5-10 for 1st half and 8.5-10 for the second half. Clearly a step behind top 2 teams. Last night clearly showed we lack a hard man or 2 in the mid field. In 04/05 we had Powell who could go into the middle and lay some physical pressure , espe...

Key Hawks to stop - More than Buddy

While Buddy is a freak and may cause significant anxst on the weekend there are many others which control supply who in some ways are more important than Buddy. Sewell , Bateman, are 2 that get under everyones guard. Sewell will go to hayes, but he wins his own ball and hurts opposition so we must b...

Don't forget against Hawthorn last time, Ross Lyon picked the extra "runner" ... went with a faster and pacier side ... it worked. No reason to replace Allen with a tall this week IMO. Roughead - S. Fisher Franklin - Hudghton R. Campbell (when forward) - Blake Williams - Gilbert (was good...

Assuming sides as selected ( i do not think Ball or Presti will play) here could be some matchups: F:Milne, Kosi , Schnieder B:O'Brien, Preti(Wakelin) Clarke HF: Gwilt, Reiwoldt, Jones HB: Goldsack, Brown, Maxwell C: Mont, Hayes, Goddard C: Cox, Burns, O'Bree HB:Gram (tag on Leon), fisher, R Clarke ...

Change this week require potential impact player

If any changes are made this week the player we bring in really needs to have the potential to have an impact , ala Gwilt in Adelaide in a one off performace. Fiora & Birrs will be solid players but not win us the game . M Gardiner is Ruck only never was or will be a FF. I think C Gardiner out a...

Geelong too good today but this group can bounce back

Geelong were too good today. i have not seena team score so efficiently off turnovers as Geelong and our turnovers were terrible. Sure the Milne decision didn't help but if they kick straight in 1st qtr we are shot. Not happy about the couple pats on the bm to Geelong players in qtr 1 for incidental...

Would think like many X for Demspter. May be tempted to go MQ for Eddy and another tagger off the bench v Eddy a link man and forward pressure player. Will be interesting though. Fiora missed last week so needs a game , like x the week before . Fisher a little slow against Geelong, may have com eino...
